About Me

My goals are: 1) Running a 1/2 marathon in November 2) To eventually run a sub-20 5K

I’ve always been active. In middle school and the beginning of high school, I played basketball and volleyball, but I ended up getting chondromalacia, tearing the cartilage in my knee twice, and having surgery so that was the end of those sports for me. To the doctor’s chagrin, I took up running opposed to the biking he suggested.

Since then, I’ve joined a community college cross country team and seen massive improvement in my times thanks to my coach. I’m getting ready to transfer to a four-year and possibly run for their team, if my coach can kick my butt into shape.

On top of running, I absolutely love hiking the river trails and foothills nearby. I’ve been rock climbing a few times, and it was the most exhilarating experience ever. I want to go again soon.

I guess what gets me out of bed in the morning is knowing that God’s put me on this earth for a purpose, and not just any purpose, but His purpose. My schedule tends to be insanely busy and chaotic, so running is my time to spend between just God and I.

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. - Acts 20:24

Finish strong.

that’s pretty awesome! i’m glad you realize that running is just your “me” time, not just a way to get away from everything. you’re lucky that your ITB syndrome makes running the least painful sport for you :) good luck with everything, and keep digging deep!

I just joined this community and I am SO ready to start running again. I had ankle surgery a couple of weeks ago so I’ll be in a cast another couple of weeks then to a walking cast. My peroneal tendons were split and tore and I had tons of scar tissue and they had to shave a bone down, BUT the doc was so encouraged after surgery he said I may be able to run in 2-3 months!!! yea!!.. Anyways..in the meantime I’m taking online courses to complete my degree, international relations is one of my courses and I noticed that we have an assignment on human rights coming up and I noticed in your blog that you are an advocate for child soldiers. I was wondering if you know of any good websites I could use for research?
Looks like your training is going really really well…Keep it up!

I was wondering if you had any tips on how you commune with God while running. I’m encouraged by your desire to do this and have been wanting this to be part of my running experience also, but I often find that my mind zones out all the time as I try to fix my thought on Christ. Any tips?

Thanks.

Hi, I am also trying to hit the 20 mark on my 3 mile,
do you have any suggestions with speed training, my
coach only does maybe 1 day per week speed and only 3 miles
of it.
