Today I ran into my occasional running buddy, Larry, while doing a short run. I haven’t seen him in a while. I think I posted about him a long time ago. When I first ran into out on our little town’s streets, he was training to hopefully qualify for Boston. When I was talking to him today, turns out he ran the CIM and qualified! With a 3:35:44 time. Crazy! So congrats to him. He’s a real inspiration.
Anyways, the run today didn’t feel so good. My injuries are gone, but I just feel heavy and out of shape. :/ Never say die, right?

Recovering from an injury sucks. That’s just how it is. It’s a slooooow process. Grr. Fortunately, I don’t hurt anymore. There’s a plus.

I haven’t run much in the past 3 weeks at all. And today I went to track practice, and all I have to say is OWW.

I have run next to nothing in the past 3 weeks. And why? Because I’m injured. Dang it.
I go the whole dang cross country season injury-free, then the first week of track training BAM! Everything falls apart. Right now, it’s my right hip and both knees. My hip hurts so bad I can hardly walk some days. Even with not running, it’s been getting worse. This week is the first week when it’s finally getting better, but my knees are still sore.
I went to a new physical therapist yesterday. I like the guy. He’s a runner, too, so never once did it enter our conversation that I need to stop running. Instead, he tried to kill me… He contorted my legs into shapes I didn’t think they’d go in, then held me there and tried to talk to my all civilized like he wasn’t a modern day torture-artist. Man, that hurt. It did feel a little better afterwards, though, but my hip still hurts like crazy and I still didn’t feel like I could run. I’m pretty sure it’s my IT band, super inflamed and whatnot. I should probably ice it more. Tonight I’m going to try and go to the gym and put in some miles on the treadmill. I hope I can do it….
