Longest run yet!

Well that was exciting. I’m feeling ready for my 10K! I didn’t even plan on doing my long run today. It was going to be tomorrow but I guess I have a party to go to tomorrow so… I hit the streets today!

It went really well, except I was wearing a pair of new shorts, and they start chaffing at mile 5. Also, at mile 3, my left foot suddenly went numb. It was really strange, and I called a friend to come pick me up because I was a little worried, but I ended up walking it off and  finishing the last 4 miles.

So yeah, that left me feeling pretty darn good. And pretty darn sore and sweaty. :)

Because running beats doing homework, or dealing with my ex-boyfriend, or dealing with my mom, or working, or any of the crap I’ve had to do today.

Oh but here’s a plus: I bought a new pair of shoes today for my next race. They’re light weight and a pretty gold and white (like that’s going to make me run faster…). They were super cheap on runningwarehouse.com. I love that site.

I’m tired and sore right now. Otherwise I would probably go to the gym or go out and run some more, because I’m just in a crappy mood. I need to get out.

Thought it went well. Didn’t feel like doing it until I was out hitting the pavement. Then it felt good. Might go run with a running group tomorrow morning. Never done anything like that… We’ll see.

I was all stiff and sore from yesterday, but it really really felt nice. I love it. I love running. And it’s something I really need right now. Life is chaos.

Trail run

 I ran 4 miles, probably hiked another mile on top of that. Sprinted some killer hills. It was great. Overall, I spent about an hour moving. It felt good. I’ve never been to these trails before. They were gorgeous. I’m definitely going again sometime.

My goal for the week is to get my mileage back up to 20 miles. I think I can do it, no problem. Especially if this nice weather keeps up.

Easy run. Woohoo!

Ate waaay too much today. Just a lotta carbs. I had oatmeal, two pieces of toast, an Eat Right caramel bar, soup, spinach salad, oatcake, Jamba Juice’s reduced fat blueberry lemon loaf, raspberry scone, bagel with sugar free jelly, baguette dipped in hummus, a banana, and a microwaved organic burrito. Haha. I’m a pig. And I didn’t drink nearly enough. I’m going to try and do the opposite tomorrow: eating very little with a good balance of protein and carbs and drinking LOTS of water. I plan on doing a big run on the trails by the river on Monday so I want to be ready.

Today I tried putting my hair up in a hair tie. I have really short, super curly, extremely thick hair. I haven’t been able to wear it in a pony tail for two years. Well today, I was able to get a tiny bit into a hair tie, but I had to pin it up with a million bobby pins. Then I had to put on a head band to keep my bangs back. However, after all the preparation it just looked weird to me because I’m used to the halo of curls around my head, so I wore it like I normally do, with just a headband keeping it all out of my face. Here’s a pic to give you an idea of my dilemma:

I know the picture’s a lil ridiculous and random, but it’s the only one that showed my hair length.

Hopefully it’ll be long enough to put up when my half marathon comes around. Either that, or I’ll have to cut it short again, because this in-between length is just driving me nuts right now. Ah… the random concerns that come along with running.

Felt compelled to go to the gym

I ate like crap today and went to the movies, so I felt the need to go to the gym. Unfortunately, for once in my life I was not wearing clothes appropriate for working out in (I almost always leave my house in just a t-shirt and running shorts, looking like I’m about to go run a race). So I drove to Sports Authority real fast and bought a new t-shirt and new running shorts (which I’ve now fallen in love with) and then went to the gym and rode the stationary bike for a while.

By the way, for those going to go see Indiana Jones… the movie is NOTHING like what you’d expect, but at the same time… I don’t know. It kinda was what you’d expect from an Indiana Jones movie… Just go see it. It was pretty good! Shia LaBeouf is becoming quite the little hot shot actor.
